Occupational therapy focuses on developing independent functioning and restoring a person’s autonomy and quality of life after a physical injury or illness. Through selected and targeted activities—often simulating real-life tasks—occupational therapy helps patients improve motor and cognitive abilities and discover new ways to compensate for permanent functional loss. At Armonia Rehabilitation Center, the Occupational Therapy Department is staffed by qualified therapists and equipped with all necessary technical resources.

What is Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy is a science dedicated to overcoming health and well-being challenges through meaningful and productive activities. It encourages participation in everyday activities under new conditions imposed by physical or cognitive limitations.

Activities addressed in occupational therapy include:

Occupational Therapy at Armonia

Within the framework of Armonia Rehabilitation Center—and always through interdisciplinary cooperation and continuous monitoring by the physiatrist—the patient is assessed, and a tailored therapeutic program is developed to promote autonomy and social reintegration.

A full evaluation typically includes:

Motor skills: gross and fine motor abilities
Cognitive skills: memory, attention, concentration, spatial–temporal orientation, critical thinking, problem solving
Sensory processing: visual, tactile, auditory perception; stereognosis; body awareness
Activities of daily living: personal hygiene, feeding, dressing, transportation, bathing, housekeeping

Through occupational therapy, the patient redevelops motor, cognitive and sensory abilities, retrains in daily living tasks, and may learn to adapt the home environment or use assistive devices to improve functionality and safety.

Recommendations for home modifications are also provided to ensure easier and safer mobility after discharge. The department includes specially designed areas with various aids and tools that motivate active participation.

Occupational therapy ensures that after leaving Armonia Rehabilitation Center, the patient is trained to care for himself, manage his health, and live a more active and integrated life within the community. Skills gained include personal hygiene, dressing, food preparation, feeding, mobility, work tasks and socialization.

Methods used in occupational therapy include technological equipment for motor rehabilitation, as well as creative and meaningful activities such as painting, ceramics, crafts, games and daily living simulations.

Occupational therapy aims to help patients achieve an independent, productive and high-quality life. Its scientific foundation spans medicine, nursing, psychology, sociology and anthropology—allowing a holistic approach to each individual’s needs.

Armonia’s experience and reliability ensure access to comprehensive medical services and a wide range of treatments beyond occupational therapy, including physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, speech therapy and psychological support—helping patients regain independence and reintegrate into their daily lives without assistance.
