Nutrition and Clinical Dietetics is an integral part of rehabilitation, applied worldwide to improve patients’ health through the development of individualized nutritional plans. In clinical practice, nutrition is often described as a form of therapeutic intervention, as it plays a decisive role in the management and treatment of numerous diseases.

Diet has a profound impact on health—either positively, by supplying essential nutrients that act as “medicine,” or negatively, when improper nutrition leads to conditions such as obesity, anemia or vitamin deficiencies.

Objectives and Applications of Nutrition and Clinical Dietetics

The primary objective of clinical nutrition is to apply scientific nutritional knowledge in real-life settings to support and accelerate the therapeutic process, while also educating patients on disease prevention through healthy dietary choices.

Nutrition and Clinical Dietetics applies to a wide range of conditions, including:

Nutrition and Clinical Dietetics at Armonia

The Department of Nutrition and Clinical Dietetics at Armonia Rehabilitation Center ensures optimal nutritional care, recognizing that a specialized, condition-specific diet contributes to faster recovery, improved healing and long-term health maintenance.

The process begins with a comprehensive nutritional assessment, during which dietary needs are evaluated and a target body weight is established. In collaboration with the treating physicians—and considering the patient’s dietary preferences (including cultural or religious factors), clinical condition, feeding requirements and route of administration (in coordination with the Speech Therapy Department when necessary)—a personalized nutrition plan is developed.

The dietary plan is continuously reassessed and adjusted in parallel with the patient’s recovery progress.

Beyond accelerating recovery, individualized nutritional care aims to regulate body weight and metabolism, prevent malnutrition and enhance nutritional status, thereby improving mobility and overall health. Nutritional education and counseling are also provided to patients and their caregivers, ensuring continuity of proper dietary habits after discharge.

Following completion of the rehabilitation program, patients receive guidance and support to help them maintain healthy nutrition practices in everyday life.

At Armonia Rehabilitation Center, clinical dietetics and nutrition services are delivered by specialized health professionals who design nutritional programs to promote faster recovery, support reintegration into daily life and educate patients on long-term healthy eating habits.
